Erase Tracking Markers in Resolve Fusion

  • Brian Morse

This week we take a look at several different common methods of removing tracking markers from video in DaVinci Resolve Fusion. First we take a minute to discuss types of markers you may want to use to make it easier to remove tracking markers. Then we get into the first example by tracking using the Planar Tracker in Fusion and using a simple garbage mask to remove the markers. We will also look at a method of using a mask to subtract from the garbage matte to reintroduce the hand that goes over the tracking markers that we previously removed. Next we take a look at a few different paint methods in which we will paint the markers out before we do the key. Using a background node with masks, Using paint strokes and Cloning from a still frame. The last technique we talk about is using a stabilized plate. A great way to paint out markers that are on surfaces like concrete or walls, by cloning the stabilized video we can achieve some great results in Blackmagic Fusion.
